What is Petroleum Development Oman?

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is the sultanate’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company. It accounts for around 70% of the country’s crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. The company has been in operation for over 40 years and is majority owned by the Government of Oman, with Royal Dutch Shell, France’s Total, and Partex holding minority stakes.

PDO is an international upstream oil and gas exploration and production company, operating in Oman since 1962. In addition to its core operations in Block 6, PDO also has interests in Blocks 3 & 4 onshore in northern Oman as well as Blocks 60 & 61 offshore in southern Oman.

Since 2007, PDO has been working to implement Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques at some of its key fields which has resulted in significant increases in production levels from these fields.
